Clallam County, a land of forested Olympic Mountains, Pacific Ocean shores, and river valleys, is located on the northern end of the Olympic Peninsula in northwestern Washington. Klallam, from which the county name is derived, means "strong people." The county was created by the Territorial Legislature on April 26, 1854.
