King County a land of Puget Sound shores, lakes, valley lowlands, and forested Cascade Mountains, is located in west central Washington. King County was created by the Oregon Territorial Legislature on December 22, 1852, and named in honor of William R. King, Vice-President of the U.S. from 1852 to 1856.
