Okanogan County, a land of forested highlands and valley farmlands, is located on the Canadian border of north central Washington. The name means "rendezvous" and refers to the place where the Okanogan River joins the Columbia. The Washington Territorial Legislature created Okanogan County on February 2, 1888.
