Stevens County, land of upper Columbia River tributary valleys and forested Okanogan highlands, borders Canada in the northeastern section of Washington. Named in honor of Isaac I. Stevens, first territorial Governor of Washington, Stevens County was created by the Legislature of the Territory on January 20, 1863.
