City Name
History:
|
Originally
named Slaughter in 1886 by Dr. Levi W. Ballard, in honor of Lt. William A.
Slaughter, who was killed in the Indian War of 1855-56. The
morbidity of the name per se offended residents (the hotel, for example,
was called the Slaughter House), and they petitioned the state legislature
for change in 1893. The city was renamed after Auburn, New York. |

There was a large beehive in the
bush, so I am getting ready to run in case they begin their attack.
