A
village patterned after the garden villages of England was founded by the
Beaux Arts Society in 1908. One of the group organizers was painter
Sidney Lawrence, famed for Alaskan landscapes and marine subjects. Intended to be the arts and crafts center of the Pacific Northwest, the
community is now a lakeside residential area west of Bellevue. |
