City Name
History:
|
Actual
source of this name's origin is vague. One version suggests that
railroad executives bestowed it as a tie in to the county name. Another that it honors Benton C. Grosscup, who was active in the
separation of Benton County from Yakima County. Whatever the
reason, the end result was an improvement, as the townsite was initially
platted by J.G. Giezentanner, postmaster of nearby Kiona, who assigned
it his own name. |
