City Name
History:
|
The
"Peace Arch City" at the United States-Canadian border was
originally named Concord in 1884. On April 23, 1885 staunch
Republican residents renamed it in honor of James C. Blaine, secretary of
state under Republican President James A. Garfield and the unsuccessful
Republican candidate for President in 1884. |
