History:

Founded
in 1890 by Magnus Miller as Baker after the nearby tributary of the Skagit
River. In 1905, the main industry switched from lumber mill to a
lime quarry. With establishment of the Portland Cement Co plant, the
community was renamed Cement City, and was subsequently given its present
title. |
