first planned city in the Pacific Northwest, it is name for its founder R.
A. Long, lumber baron, who founded the mill city in 1923. Because of
its strategic location on a delta between the Cowlitz and Columbia rivers,
it was the site of a Hudson's Bay Co. hide and fur warehouse in 1846. |
