City Name
History:

Mrs.
Phoebe N. Judson, first white woman in the northern portion of the county,
named the town in 1870 after a favorite poem, "Hohenlinden" by
Thomas Campbell, in which the first verse begins: "On Linden, when
the sun was low..." She substituted the "y" for
"i" because she believed it would then look as pretty as it
sounded. |

The entire City of
Lynden closes on Sundays, so we actually visited a ghost town.
