History:
|
Originally
known as Point Elliott, the town was founded by J.D. Fowler and Morris H.
Frost, partners in a store. When Fowler became postmaster in 1862 he
adopted as its name a variation of the Native-American name Muckl-te-o,
meaning "good camping ground." |
