City Name
History:
|
The
largest city in the county, it was platted in 1907 in an alfalfa field
paralleling the Okanogan River. It derived its name from a nearby
lake the Native-Americans called omache, meaning "good
medicine," as the water was believed to have medicinal qualities. |
