A
Wisconsin town was named by a resident impressed by Thomas Campbell's
poem, "Pleasure of Hope," which mentions the Alaska village (now
spelled Unalaska). A resident of the Wisconsin town founded the
Carlisle Lumber Co. and successively extended operations to Arkansas,
Texas and finally in 1914, to Washington - and in each state duplicated
the Aleut Native-American name of his former home. |
