History:

Platted
in 1882 as Three Forks for its setting at the junction of three streams,
the town was renamed in 1884 for railroad sleeping-car manufacturer George
Pullman in hopes that he would respond to the honor with an
endowment. The city is the site of Washington State University,
which was established as an agricultural college in 1892 with an
enrollment of 234. |
