History:

First
known as Stillaquamish. With the coming of the railroad in 1892, the
town was retitled to fit its wooded setting and as a tie in to early
settler Michael Sill. The name is one of a variety of place names in
the nation coined from Latin root word sylvan or silvan,
meaning "forested." |
