City Name
History:
|
Named
by early settler United States Senator John Wilson, who, in his late
years, could not remember the exact name source. He believed that he
had named the town to honor New England author Theodore Winthrop, who
journeyed over the Cascade Mountains in 1853 and subsequently lauded the
Washington region in his book The Canoe and the Saddle. |
