Join me in my adventures as I Visit Every City in Washington State...and beyond. This web site chronicles my travels over the highways and byways of our nation’s 42nd State. Most people spend their money and time traveling to exotic and historical places around the world, but never take the time to visit their own backyard. I have always wanted to travel throughout my state
and I thought why not record my adventures at the same time.

The original idea for this project came to me in 1986 on a road trip with my family to the Washington coast. I was amazed by how many small towns we drove through that I'd never heard of before. Fifteen years later, as a 2001 New Year's resolution, I set a goal for myself to visit every city in the state before December 2005; which I was able to accomplish four months early. During the original project, as I was already driving every where, I decided to include riding every ferry boat and driving over every mountain pass as separate side projects. Then realizing that I had completed the project, I longed to see more. So I created Phase Two and a Phase Three of the project; all of which you can see by clicking the See Where I've Been sign at the top of the list on the left.

General questions that you might have about the project can be answered on the Project FAQs page. Please feel free to send me a message with comments, suggestions, or corrections regarding this web site. Just click on the Contact Me sign to the left.

In his 1841 essay entitled Self-Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote:
"I have no churlish objection to the circumnavigation of the globe, for the purposes of art, of study, and benevolence, so that the man is first domesticated, or does not go abroad with the hope of finding somewhat greater than he knows."

SUMMER TRAVELS: Due to other travels I have planned for this year (e.g. Europe, New York, Utah, Las Vegas, Disneyland), I won't be travel as much for my project than I have in the past. However, I am planning on a few trips in July and August.
